Welcome to ProofMark™ — a service that empowers individuals and organizations to verify and visibly mark the authenticity of digital media. Your trust and privacy are important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our services.

1. What We Collect

We only collect the minimum necessary data to provide and improve the service:

a. Uploaded Media

We store the uploaded image or video only for processing.
If the user consents, a copy of the stamped version is added to the public ledger.
We do not store biometric data.

b. Metadata (Optional)

Users may choose to share available metadata, this includes timestamp or location.
This information is only included in the public ledger if the user explicitly opts in.

c. Device & Technical Info

We may collect anonymized technical data (e.g., browser type, IP address, file type) for performance monitoring and abuse prevention.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

Analyze media for authenticity and generate ProofMark™ stamps
Record approved media entries in a public ledger
Improve system performance and detect misuse
Maintain legal compliance

We do not use your uploaded content or metadata for:

Advertising
User profiling

3. Public Ledger Transparency

The public ledger is viewable by anyone.
Only media and metadata explicitly approved by the user will be recorded in the ledger.
Once published, ledger entries cannot be modified or removed, due to the nature of public ledgers.

4. Data Retention

Uploaded media files that do not receive a ProofMark™ are deleted from our servers after temporary processing.
Media that is approved and stamped is stored only if the user agrees to publication in the ledger.

5. User Rights

You have the right to:

Use ProofMark™ without account registration
Choose whether or not metadata is publicly listed
View your media's token entry in the ledger
Contact us regarding questions, misuse or to delete your account

Because of the non-reversible nature of the public ledger, we cannot delete entries after they've been verified and published.

6. Children's Privacy

ProofMark™ is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under this age.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including:

HTTPS encryption
Media sanitation and input validation
Rate limiting and IP logging for abuse prevention

However, no system is 100% secure, and users should avoid uploading sensitive or personally identifying media.

8. Camera Permission Usage

Camera Access: Our ProofMark mobile application requests access to your device's camera to enable you to capture photos directly within the app for authentication and verification purposes. When you choose to take a photo using our in-app camera feature, the image is processed through our proprietary authentication system to verify its authenticity and detect any potential manipulation. We only access your camera when you explicitly initiate the photo capture function within the app. Photos taken through the app are used solely for our media authentication services and are handled in accordance with our data protection practices outlined in this privacy policy. You can revoke camera permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will limit your ability to capture new photos directly within the app.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect technical, legal, or operational changes. You will be notified via a banner or site message.
